Logoaway
removes TV Logos

based on: VirtualDub-Filter “logoaway” by Chris Wojdon - homepage

Used files:

Vdub2RTFx

logoaway v40beta3.zip

original vdubfilter

Installation:
Save the files into the folder: ..\pinnacle\Liquid 7\plugins\rtfx\virtualdubfx

On TV-shows you always find these anyoing TV-logos.
Now it is easy to remove these logos with the Virtualdub-Filter “Logoaway”.

Installation:

  1. if not already installed you need the Vdub-to-RTFX-Shell Vdub2RTFx . Download this file and copy it in the directory “...Pinnacle\Liquid 7\Plugins\RTFx\virtualdubfx” (if this directory does not exits, please create it)
  2. download the “Logoaway_filter logoaway v40beta3.zip “ You’ll find it and many other  Filter in the VirtualDub-Filter List.
Open the ZIP-File and extract the file “logoaway.vdf” into the just created directory
    “...Pinnacle\Liquid 7\Plugins\RTFx\virtualdubfx”
  3. Start Liquid

Using the filter

After launching Liquid, you will see a new rack in the effectslist “Virtualdub FX”. The logoaway filter can be found in this rack.

The filter is available in two versions:

  • the standard verrsion with the virtualdub user interface, providing all features of the filter
  • the EZ_ user interface, providing selected functions in the Studio effect user interface

Use the filter on a video where you want to remove the Logo.

The EZ_ Userinterface

After launching Liquid you’ll see in the effectlist a new categorie “virtualdubFX”.

In this category you will find the new effect “EZ_Logoaway”. Use this logo on a video where you would like to get rid of a logo

The Edit windows provides following controls:

In the preview window you see an area with a doted frame. This marks the area where the logo will be removed. With the sliders i“X Position” and “Y Position” you can move this area onto the logo. During moving the area you will find that all objects in the area are removed.

The slides “height” and “width” adjust the height and width of the area.

By unchecking “Show Border” you remove the frame from the video. But the logo is still gone. You have to do this before you render the final video, otherwise you will see the frame on you final product.

With the tools right of the preview screen you are able to move the area with your mouse. The tools work similar to the tool in the 2D-editor.

  • upper toolbutton - move area in X- and Y-direction with the mouse
    Shift-key- only in X-direction
    Ctrl-key- only in Y-direction
  • lower tool - change size of area
    normal: X and Y locked
    Shift-key: X and Y separate

If the toolbuttons ar not shown in your environment you can add them easily by right clicking on the tool-button area and adding the tool buttons to the preview-screen.

The result:  No TV-Logo anymore.

Don’t forget: Switch off “Show Border” before rendering

A list with parameters for wellknown TV-channels in europe can be found at Volker Böhm’ site: http://www.vboehm.de/logoaway.php

The virtualdub Userinterface

You will now see the edit window for the effect. Virtualdub-Filters provide their own dialog for configuration that cannot be displayed directly by Liquid.

Configure the filter and click “OK”. Now you can preview the effect in Studio 9 preview window.

No crash? Does it still work? Great!!

Now a preview during editing the dialog box is possible.

The “logoaway”-filter allows, as the name implies, to remove the logo of the TV-station from a video. You can find more details how the filter works and the filter itself on the authors homepage:

http://www.republika.pl/vander74/virtualdub/ladocs301/logoaway.html

or

http://republika.pl/voidon/virtualdub/

As a fast hint: You must specify a border around the logo. “Logo border position -X,Y” define the upper-left corner of the box and “logo border size - Width, Heigth” the width and height of the border. If you click the checkbox “visible border “, you can see the border in the preview. You have to play with the values a little bit until the border is in the right position.  Leave the other values as they are unless you know what to change.

We would like to get rid of the “Pro7”-logo in this video. After adding the logoaway-filter and checking the “visible borders”-box you will see a small rectangle on the preview screen. While changing the value for the borders you can move the rectangle over the logo. You can see the values I used in the dialog box above.

And this is the result: No logo anymore!!

After the preview is ok we want to render the final video in high resolution. But what is this? The logo is back again.

I hope you have fun with the plugin.
