Digital Clock

The Digital Clock effect prints an digital clock on the video image. The clock runs in realtime when the video runs. TThe clock can count up or down. A starttime can be set, where the clock starts running and a stop time where the clock stops. The accuracy of the start and stop time is up to 1 millisecond. Several time formats can be selected or even a free format can be defined.

Installation

The digital clock effect is included in the ClockDisplay RTFxV2-plugin. You can find the latest version here.

Parameters

Position/Size

Determines the X- and Y-Position of the clock and the size.

Start Time

With the Start Time sliders the start time of the clock can be set.
There are sliders for
* hour - 0 to 23
* minute - 0 to 59
* seconds - 0 to 59
* milliseconds - 0 to 999
* day - 1 to 31
* month - 1 to 12
* year - 1900 to 2100

Stop Time

With the Stop Time sliders a stop time for the clock can be set.
There are sliders for
* hour,
* minute,
* seconds
* milliseconds
The clock stops exactly at the specified time even if this time does not match a frame.
In this case the displayed time is the time set by the Stop Time sliders. This allows to specify an exact time to display when the clock stops.

Time Parameters

  • Count Down

When this check box is set, the clock runs backwards from start time down to 0 or to the Stop Time.

  • Speed Factor

this slider allows to accelerate or slow down the clock.

Positive values are multiplied - i.e 10 = 10 times normal speed
Negative values are divided - i.e. -10 = 1/10th of normal speed
  • Time base

defines if the displayed time is based on the elapsed time from the start of the clip the effect is attached to or

is based on the time from the start of the movie.
Be careful when using this parameter. When the clip with the clock effect is moved on the timeline and the time base is set to "MOVIE"
the time displayed by the clock changes according to the position on the timeline.
This is due to the fact that the time displayed by the clock is derived from the timecode of the frame on the timeline.

Colors

Determines the foreground or background colors of the clock. The colors are in RGB values. They can be set via via the color selection tool or the eyedropper tool.

  • Foreground Color

Color of the clock handles.

  • Foreground Opacity

Opacity of the foreground (0 = transparent, 100 = fully opaque)

  • Background Color

Color of the background

  • Background Opacity

Opacity of the background (0 = transparent, 100 = fully opaque)

Display Format and Font

  • Display Format

Defines the Display Format of the timer.

Following styles are available:
  • * hh:mm:ss.fff
  • * hh:mm:ss.ff
  • * hh:mm:ss.f
  • * hh:mm:ss
  • * hh:mm
  • * mm:ss
  • * mm
  • * mm:ss.f
  • * ss.f
  • * dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss
  • * mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss
  • * Free Format - allows the free definition how the time and date should be displayed.

Free text can be entered in an edit box.

The text may consist of one or more specific formatting codes preceded by a percent sign (%).
Characters that do not begin with % are displayed unchanged.
The formatting codes are described in the following chapter.

Free Format Timer Style

The „Free Format“ Timer Style allows the free definition how the time and date should be displayed. Free text can be entered in an edit box. The text may consist of one or more specific formatting codes preceded by a percent sign (%). Characters that do not begin with % are displayed unchanged.

Following formatting code are available:

  • %b - Abbreviated month name
  • %B - Full month name
  • %c - Date and time formatted in English Format
  • %d - Day of month as decimal number (01 – 31)
  • %H - Hour in 24-hour format (00 – 23)
  • %I - Hour in 12-hour format (01 – 12)
    • %m - Month as decimal number (01 – 12)
  • %M - Minute as decimal number (00 – 59)
  • %p - A.M./P.M. indicator for 12-hour clock
  • %S - Second as decimal number (00 – 59)
  • %x - Date formatted in English Format
  • %X - Time formatted in English Format
  • %y - Year without century, as decimal number (00 – 99)
  • %Y - Year with century, as decimal number
  • %% - Percent sign
Examples:

If you enter the first string into the edit box the displayed result is the second string. The Start Time is set to following values: (Hour: 16, Minute: 14, Second: 01, Day: 11, Month: 7, Year: 1985)

  • „%b %d, %y“ ⇒ „Jul 11,85“
  • „%c“ ⇒ „07/11/1985 16:14:01“
  • „%H:%M“ ⇒ 16:14„
  • “%I:M %p„ ⇒ „04:14 PM“
  • „Date: %B %d,%Y %H.%M:%S“ ⇒ „Date: July 11,1985 16:14:01“

EDIT

The EDIT button allows you to select the font family and font style and point size. When you click on the button a „Font Selection“ window opens. Clockdispay_param14.jpg

You can enter following parameters:
