ClockDisplay for VEGAS Pro and OFX Interfaces

Introduction

The Clockdisplay adds an analogue or digital clock . It can be used for Sports events, technical tests etc. where a display of the time is of interest.

Specification

Date File Version Programs Operating system Bit depth supported Comment
07.09.2018ofxclock.ofx.bundle.zip 0.2 VEGAS Pro, Magix Video Prox X with OFX, Resolve Windows 10-64bit 8, 16, 32-bit initial release

Installation

Download the file. Open the ZIP-Archive and copy expand or copy the complete folder OFXClock.ofx.bundle into the folder „C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins“.

Usage

The clock effect can be used as event effect and media generator if the host provides this functionality. In VEGAS both is possible.

Event effect

You can apply the clock to an event on the timeline. If you want to cover more than one events with the running clock it is best to create an empty event in a track aboove the clips and add the effect to this empty event.

In the VEGAS effect list select the folder „OFX-HLinke“. In this folder you can find the effect: „OFX-Clock“.

Select the effect and apply it to an event.

The parameters are explained in the next chapter.

Mediagenerator

Open the media generator tab. Select the folder OFX-HLinke and in this folder the media generator: OFX-Clock. You can move the Mediagenerator to an empty track and extent the event to the length you need.

After moving the medai generator to the track the media generator parameter list opens. The clock parameters are explained in the following chapter. For a media generator it is important to update the Duration (see parameter marked in red at the top of the parameter list). The standard value is 10 seconds. If you keep it the clock will repeat counting from 0 to 10. You have to change the duration parameter to the duration of the clock event. (In this case 1:30:00 for 1 minute and 30 seconds duration)

Parameters

Clock Choice

Select the type of the clock.

Parameter Description Comment
Analogue Clock Show Analogue Clock
Digital Clock Show Digital Clock
LED Clock Show LED Clock

Clock Centre

Defines the center of the clock. You can enter values between 0 and 1 or use the locator in the parameter box or on the preview monitor. By dragging the locator cross in the parameter box or on the preview monitor you define the position of the clock on the screen.

Colors

You can select the main colour for handles and points and the colour of the background. If one of these colours is the same as the „key colour“ at the end of the parameter list, the item will become transparent.

Clock Size

Parameter Einheit Minimum Maximum Description Comment
Size Percent 0 100 Size of the clock 100% = Max height of the video frame

Time Parameters

Start time

The clock starts at each clip begin with 00:00:00. With these parameters you can change the starting time.

Parameter Unit Minimum Maximum Description
Start day day 1 31 Day of the month
Start Month month 1 12 Month of the year
Start Year Year 1970 Year
Start hour hour 0 23
Start minute minute 0 59
Start second second 0 59.000

Stop time

With these parameters a sa stop time for the clock can be set.

Parameter Unit Minimum Maximum Description
Stop day day 1 31 Day of the month
Stop Month month 1 12 Month of the year
Stop Year Year 1970 Year
Stop hour hour 0 23
Stop minute minute 0 59
Stop second second 0 59.000

The clock stops exactly at the specified time. If the clock runs forward the stop time has to be higher than the start time. Otherwise the clock will not start running. If the clock runs backwards the stop time has to be lower than the start time. Otherwise the clock will not start running.

additional time parameters

Parameter Unit Minimum Maximum Description Comment
Run Clock backwards Checkbox When this check box is set, the clock runs backwards from start time down to 0 or down to the Stop Time.
Speed Factor multiplier 0 +9999 this slider allows to accelerate or slow down the clock. Values > 1 accelerate, values < 1 slow down 0.10 = 1/10 speed, 10 = 10-times speed
